There have been a number of threads recently about people approaching RAYNET with a view to joining, and having varying degrees of success.

RAYNET as an organisation welcomes anyone interested in its work, amateur licensed or not.

Membership is administered through the local Groups and all enquiries received via the national contact point are passed directly to the nearest Group based on Postcode area.

Previously the system of passing these on has not been the most efficient, in that they were cascaded through the Zone & County structure rather than being direct, which introduced delays and the risk of enquiries going astray. This was changed in the latter part of 2008 and the system is now working a lot better, with virtually no repeat enquiries having been received.

Additionally, direct e-mail contact can now be made with most Groups via the contact page.

A common misconception is that the National organisation can force a Group to respond. It cannot, being only able to encourage them to respond in an appropriate manner.

All enquiries should now be quickly dealt with and a response obtained from your local Group within a couple of weeks. If you have enquired and not heard in this time, please let us know via the e-mail address that was quoted in the response to your website submission.
