Following a power failure in one of three Ambulance Controls
in Kent, RAYNET was asked to assist in providing extra communications
facilities from 19:30 on 2 October until 09:00 the following morning.
Groups from both Sussex and Essex assisted in providing extra man power for the 14 hour duty.
- Zone 4 holds two zone meetings a year, the first
Sunday in April and the last Sunday in October. The next Zone meeting will take place
on the 26th October 2008 at the Newmarket.

Hospital Site).

Essex RAYNET was place on standby to provide
communications between rest centres and the Council
offices. As a result of the fire following an explosion
at the oil refinery in Coryton. Toxic fumes could be
released and concerns were expressed about local
residents and the pupils at a number of primary schools
in the near vicinity which may require evacuation.
- Bedfordshire RAYNET put onto standby during the July
2007 Floods. Beds CCU contacted the local group as concerns
over the water level in the river Ouse continued to
rise. The river banks held the flood water and the
group was stood down.
- North Anglia RAYNET put onto standby on 19th
March 2007.
West Norfolk EPO contacted the local group as concerns
over the extra Commutations requirements likely to be
required during the forecasted hi-Tide and severe
winds. the following day the group was called out to
assist in the planned evacuation of the flood risk
area.

- In order to improve the Government's understanding
of the role of RAYNET, representatives from the
Emergency Planning Team of the Radio Amateurs'
Emergency Network met with the Central Sponsor
for Information Assurance (CSIA) which is a unit of
the Cabinet Office and which works with partners in
